A Night of One-Acts from
2022 “Script Tease of Short Plays” Competition

WHEN THE MOON IS IN THE SECOND HOUSE, by Richard Fouts
(3rd Prize)
The lives of a Hollywood power-couple are shattered when the adoption of their two boys is declared fraudulent.

SOAR SPOT, by Allison Fradkin
(Honorable Mention)
If an abuser had a Greatest Hits album, it would include such scintillating singles as “Diss You Much,” “Keep on Shoving You,” and “You Can’t Stop the Beatdown.” Except the women at the Safe House can and did. But will they stop listening to their setbacks’ soundtracks and keep listening to their own, much more mellifluous voices?

About the Authors…

Richard Fouts is a California playwright. A workshop production of his play, THE BIRTHDAY LOTTERY, premiered in San Francisco in 2016. Since then, it has been reworked into FIRST DAY IN DECEMBER, which won first prize in San Diego’s 2021 Scripteaser competition. Several of his 10-minute plays have appeared at short-play festivals around the U.S.

Scriptly speaking, Allison Fradkin’s plays (sur)pass the Bechdel Test and enlist their characters in a caricature of the idiocies and idiosyncrasies of insidious isms. An enthusiast of accessibility and inclusivity, Fradkin freelances for her hometown of Chicago as Dramatist for Special Gifts Theatre, adapting scripts for actors of all abilities; and as Literary Manager for Violet Surprise Theatre, curating new works by queer playwrights.
