Readings begin promptly at 1 p.m.,
followed by a facilitated discussion.
Afterwards, gather with the playwrights and
actors to discuss the plays.

    A misanthropic writer meets a carefree barista in a local coffee shop, where they percolate through her fears on their way to finding love.

    About the Authors...

    • Samantha Goldstein
      is a San Diego actor and director, and has also taught writing and literature at UC San Diego and UMass Amherst, where she earned a Ph.D. in Literature and MFA in Poetry respectively. She currently enjoys speaking engagements on Catskills humor and culture, the focus of her graduate work.

    • Michaela Subido Ceja draws inspiration from family dynamics and intergenerational stories.  Her work has been featured on stages statewide, from Campbell Hall at UCSB to the Old Globe, weaving humor, grief and the legacies we inherit and shape for ourselves.

    • Katharine Rex is a screenwriter, playwright, improviser, improv coach, and actor. She has been making up and telling stories forever. Some of them are even true. Winner of one Third Place and two Honorable Mentions in the Scripteasers Short Play contests.

    • Jim Caputo evolved from actor to director to playwright. He has won numerous awards and his plays have been produced from coast to coast. His film, Amy’s Wish, won acceptance in three festivals. His teleplay, Brief Encounter, won the NY Public Television competition and was shown on stations across the country.
