A brokenhearted white South African must confront his grief when his multiracial family convinces him to take a journey with them to a mysterious circle his father built deep in the Colorado mountains.
“The Reunion” by Greg McAfee
The play unfolds in a neighborhood coffee shop where Taylor, a regular patron, unexpectedly encounters their significant other, Jordan. As old and new connections collide, relationships are explored, leading to awkward encounters.
About the authors:
Heath Houseman: Heath is a produced and published Canadian-American playwright, screenwriter, poet, and freelancer, whose work has appeared in Punchnel’s, Dear Booze, and Heartland Plays Inc. Heath’s two-act play, “Burning Vonnegut,” won the Limelight Theatre’s 2nd Annual Playwright Competition and received an AEA production. In 2021, his short play “Black Irish” was produced at the Columbus Black Theatre Festival. Columbus film director Jabari Cole and his production company, Restless Multimedia, acquired the film rights, and filming wrapped December, 2022. Freelance work includes critiques for the Los Angeles Theatre Center, Bifrost Pictures, and a motley crew of screenwriters, playwrights, authors, and dreamers.
Greg McAfee is a playwright and voice actor who lives in San Diego, California. Greg writes Rex Rivetter: Private Eye, an award-winning audio-drama with listeners in 38 countries around the world. His stage plays include Shifting Paradigms, Indiscretion, The Carousel, and Plunder. He has also written for WriteOutLoud’s Twainfest, Amigo del REP’s Historias Tenebrosas, and The MENding Monologues, which won Best Testimonial in the 2014 San Diego Fringe Festival. Greg is the recipient of the Nick Danger prize, a Mark Time award.
